Great Wall

Asters

Asters usually don't bloom until later in the fall, but this lack of rain has everything going fast. I think it is time to wash the car. Pulling out all stops.

Today I was invited to join my former work group for lunch. We were bidding farewell to a guest researcher, and in some ways bidding farewell to my constant presence there. I've been getting out from under all my previous responsibilities, one at a time. And, since my new job has me new in the ranks, I'm low man on the totem pole. I have no real responsibilities like before. No more oversite responsibilites. For lunch we had sushi, and Chinese buffet. Not so good sushi, but I like it for the motions. It looks pretty and I like the wasabi/soy/pickled ginger action.

We still don't have vacation reservations, yet we have plans to go someplace in 2 weeks. I think that's just crazy, but I have to learn to let other people work it out, and relax somehow. I know that if I don't get out of this place, I will go out of my mind. I would love to go north. Someplace with air that doesn't look like pea soup. Someplace like that.
